Overview

The ST Pre/Post Matric Scholarships & Ashram Schools scheme in Uttar Pradesh aims to support tribal students by providing financial assistance and residential education facilities.

Ashram Schools

Ashram-type government residential schools are established in remote tribal areas. These schools offer free education, lodging, food, uniforms, and study materials to ST students from class I to XII.

Scholarship Component

Eligible ST students receive a maintenance stipend transferred directly to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The amount varies by class level and is disbursed quarterly.

Objective

The initiative seeks to reduce dropout rates, improve literacy, and ensure access to quality education for tribal children residing in Uttar Pradesh.

1. Access the UP scholarship portal at scholarship.up.gov.in and complete new user registration.
2. Fill the application form with personal, academic, and bank details; upload scanned copies of caste certificate, income certificate, residence proof, Aadhaar, and bank passbook.
3. Submit the form and retain the generated application ID for tracking.
4. For admission to an Ashram School, obtain the offline admission form from the respective school or District Tribal Welfare Office, fill it, and submit with the same documents.
5. After verification, the scholarship amount is credited to the beneficiary’s bank account via DBT, and Ashram School students receive free residential facilities.
