Objective

The National Food Security Mission aims to increase the productivity and profitability of major food grains and pulses by restoring soil health, promoting high‑yielding varieties, and facilitating the adoption of best‑practice technologies.

Key Components

1. Distribution of certified seeds and bio‑fertilizers.
2. Soil health cards and on‑farm soil testing services.
3. Demonstration plots for precision farming, water‑use efficiency and integrated pest management.
4. Capacity building through farmer field schools and extension camps.

Implementation Mechanism

Implementation is coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare through State Agricultural Departments and District Extension Offices. Funding is allocated under the central scheme (All‑India) and disbursed to states based on area‑wise targets. Monitoring utilizes a digital MIS platform to track seed distribution, input subsidies and yield outcomes.

1. Approach the Gram Krishi Prasar Adhikari (village level extension officer).
2. Submit land records, identity proof and a brief crop plan.
3. Receive a beneficiary identification number and schedule for input distribution.
4. Attend the mandatory training session.
5. Avail subsidised inputs and report post‑harvest yields.
