The Bihar ASHA Incentive and Family Planning Compensation Scheme aims to strengthen maternal and child health by motivating accredited social health activists (ASHA) and encouraging couples to adopt permanent family planning methods.

Incentive for ASHA Workers

Eligible ASHA workers receive a monthly performance-linked incentive transferred directly to their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The incentive is based on the fulfillment of predefined health service indicators such as antenatal care visits, institutional deliveries, and child immunization.

Compensation for Family Planning Acceptors

Couples opting for sterilization (tubectomy or vasectomy) are entitled to a one‑time cash compensation of up to ₹3,000. The amount is disbursed after the procedure is verified by the concerned Block Primary Health Centre (PHC) medical officer.

Implementation Mechanism

Applications are submitted offline at the Block PHC. The medical officer verifies eligibility, processes the claim, and forwards it to the district health office for DBT release. Regular monitoring ensures timely disbursement and transparency.

1. Visit the nearest Block Primary Health Centre (PHC) office.
2. Obtain the application form for ASHA incentive or family planning compensation.
3. Fill in the form with personal, bank account, and service details.
4. Attach required documents: Aadhaar card, bank passbook, proof of ASHA engagement or sterilization certificate.
5. Submit the completed form to the Block PHC medical officer for verification.
6. After verification, the claim is forwarded for DBT processing; incentives/compensation are credited to the beneficiary’s bank account.
