Overview

AMRUT 2.0, launched in 2021, builds on the original AMRUT mission to achieve universal water supply coverage in all statutory towns and cities. The mission focuses on providing functional household tap connections, ensuring 100% coverage of water supply, and improving sewerage and septage management.

Components

• Household Water Tap Connections – provision of potable water tap to every urban household.
• Sewerage and Septage Management – construction of sewer networks, treatment plants, and promotion of decentralized septage treatment.
• Storm‑Water Drainage – development of city‑wide drainage systems to mitigate urban flooding.
• Rejuvenation of Water Bodies – restoration of ponds, lakes, and tanks to enhance groundwater recharge.
• Green Spaces and Parks – development and maintenance of urban green areas.

Funding Pattern

The scheme follows a central‑state‑ULB funding ratio of 50:30:20 for North Eastern and Himalayan states, and 50:50:0 for other states, with additional support through external financing and public‑private partnerships.

1. Visit the nearest municipal corporation or municipal office.
2. Obtain the application form for household water tap or sewerage connection.
3. Fill in the form with required details and attach supporting documents (proof of residence, identity, and property ownership/tenancy).
4. Submit the completed form to the ULB’s water supply or engineering department.
5. After verification, the ULB will issue a sanction letter and schedule installation.
6. Upon completion, the connection is activated and the first bill is generated.
